Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra: The Cooperative Sector's Pledge For A Developed India In Amrit Kaal: Tomar
The Credit Society National Convention, organized by Sahakar Bharti, commenced with an inaugural ceremony at Pusa Fair Ground, Delhi, graced by Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. Tomar urged the cooperative sector to align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for India's development.
Addressing delegates, Tomar emphasized honest representation, acknowledging Sahakar Bharti as a key player in the cooperative field. The convention, named 'ElevatED,' focused on utilizing cooperative values to enhance engineering education, attracting a significant gathering of credit societies.
Tomar highlighted Sahakar Bharti's role in advancing cooperation and the historical significance of cooperation in Indian culture. Despite past shortcomings post-independence, he expressed optimism for transformation under Prime Minister Modi's leadership. The establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation under Amit Shah was deemed a radical change, expected to benefit rural areas, especially in agriculture.
The digitization of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and their expansion were highlighted as government initiatives to strengthen the sector. BL Verma, addressing credit society representatives, emphasized the Ministry's commitment to cooperative institutions' welfare, addressing issues like warehouse shortage to protect the funds of the poor. The focus on empowering youth and farmers securing loans through cooperatives was underscored.
Uday Joshi, National General Secretary of Sahakar Bharti, stressed the importance of digitalization in credit societies, calling for collective efforts to achieve Prime Minister Modi's vision for a fully developed India. Thousands of cooperative representatives from 17 states participated.

Union Minister Tomar launched the event's theme song and released the souvenir. Notable figures present included Union Minister of State for Cooperation B.L. Verma, Sahakar Bharti's national president Dinanath Thakur, and NEFCB president Jyotidra Bhai Mehta. The convention served as a platform for stakeholders to discuss, collaborate, and contribute to the cooperative sector's growth and development.
